Bologna serves at NBC 10 as a co-anchor for NBC 10 News Sunrise with Mario Hilario Monday through Friday mornings and NBC 10 News at Noon on Mondays and Tuesdays. Readers of Rhode Island Monthly magazine voted Alison the best female reporter in the market for two years in a row before voting her the best morning female news anchor for the past three years in a row.
Alison previously worked as an anchor at Fox 25 News in Boston and as one of the network’s youngest producers in New York City for “Dateline NBC.”Alison has covered stories in nearly every part of New England, providing live breaking news on all major events, including the death of Senator Ted Kennedy and the tragic Station nightclub fire.
Several of her investigative reports resulted in local and state-level reforms. Notable reports include: exposing gaps in sex offender registry lists, overcrowding in state juvenile detention facilities, and a Vietnam veteran claiming to have earned his most prestigious medal when the Army never awarded it to him.
After Alison broke the story, President Bush signed legislation to remove the veteran’s name from a post office in Rhode Island. Alison has received numerous honors and awards for her work in journalism, including an Emmy Award, an Edward R. Murrow Award, two Associated Press Awards, a Gracie Allen Award, an Investigative Reporters and Editors Award, two Clarion Awards, and others.
Alison was also named one of Ocean State’s “40 Under 40” professionals by the Providence Business News for her journalism work. Alison spends her free time teaching yoga at her studio and running a non-profit organization she founded that offers free yoga outreach programs to adults with developmental disabilities, veterans, children in schools, shelters, prisons, and men and women in recovery.
Alison has received over a dozen community awards for her work there, including the Women of Excellence Community Award, The Rhode Island Small Business Journal’s Entrepreneurial Woman to Watch Award, the Girl Scouts of Southern New England’s Leading Women of Distinction Award, and The Pawtucket Foundation’s Person of the Year award.
Sheldon Whitehouse presented Alison with an advocacy award for her work assisting men and women in recovery, and Attorney General Peter Kilmartin presented Alison with a justice award, which is given to individuals in recognition of their extraordinary commitment to justice, consumer protection, law enforcement, community outreach, and senior and environmental protection.
