Bob Schieffer Education
Schieffer graduated from North Side High School and then joined the Christian University of Texas. In 1959, he graduated with a Bachelor Of Arts degree in Journalism and English. Bob Schieffer Bladder Cancer
Schieffer was diagnosed with grade III bladder cancer in 2003. He noticed blood in his urine one day when he was at the gym which he thought was due to straining. In 2004, he was cancer-free due to the early detection of the tumor. He blamed the occurrence on his smoking since he started smoking at the age of 16. He had quit smoking in 1974 after he contracted ulcerative colitis. Schieffer talked about his experience on Don Imus’s radio talk show, and CNN to raise awareness of the disease since he had a huge platform.
Illness
Although cancer-free, Schieffer has been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes and takes insulin therapy.
