She says that it was the day that she had a scheduled appointment with her doctor to see her unborn baby for the 1st time, hear the heartbeat, and get that coveted ultrasound photograph that she planned to send in a Christmas card to her in-laws in Ireland. She asked her doctor whether she could FaceTime her husband but the doctor told her to first wait until he makes sure everything is okay.

Gingras says that the words of the doctor nicked her heart and she had no possibility of anything going wrong in her mind. She then felt that the doctor feverishly move the wand around her stomach as if he lost something, and eventually, the doctor told her that it was unfortunate that he did not find a heartbeat.
