Amanpour was told that she had to have a Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), a CT scan, and more blood tests. She says that she was shocked!

She was diagnosed with stage 2 ovarian clear cell carcinoma on May 5, 2021. After 10 days, she underwent major surgery and then 18 weeks of chemotherapy. Amanpour says that her son, Darius John, and her ex-husband, State James Rubin are credited to medical experts and support all through the tough times she had during the treatment and recovery time.
