This was actually after doctors refused to transfer or discharge her.
Cohen made the exposure of the discharge of 13,000 very sick children from the Children’s Medical Services in the State by the Florida Department of Health, to other Medicaid plans, in the year 2017, which were not offering their specialized care. The exposure made the lawmakers ask for an investigation.
Cohen was the 1st reporter to cover the shutdown of a Florida nursing home. This was after surveillance footage displayed an 86-year-old resident being beaten. Also, she was the first reporter to cover Bayer paying doctors millions to push a device for female sterilization and a possibly unsafe as well as questionable birth control device, “Essure.”
Cohen has also reported on a number of health crises throughout the United States such as; the anti-vaccination movement, the 2017-2018 record-breaking flu outbreak, the children’s deaths at the border, the 2018 acute flaccid myelitis outbreak affecting children, and the measles outbreak. The Alliance of Women in Media awarded her a Gracie award for covering the Ebola outbreak in Liberia. This was in the year 2014.
