Cicma joined Rutgers University in 2000 when he finished his high school education at Classical High School. In 2004, he graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism & Political Science. During his time in college, he was named a 4 Time All-Big East Academic Team Selection. Moreover, he worked as a senator at Rutgers University and served WRSU-FM Radio Station, and RUTV as a member. Cicma was inducted into the Rutgers Cap and Skull Honor Society.

Prior to joining NBC 4 New York, he worked at NBC WJAR in Providence, RI, CBS WSHM in Springfield Massachusetts, and ABC in Sioux City, Iowa as a TV sports anchor/reporter/producer. On News12 Jersey and CBS WFSB Connecticut, he has also anchored sports; Cicma began his career as an intern at NBC 4 New York.

Cicma debuted at the age of 20 during his ATP Tour professional occasion at the 2002 Miller Lite Hall of Fame Championships. He alongside Greg Schweitzer was defeated by Gabriel Trifu and Glenn Weiner during the 16th round. In 2003, he alongside Greg Schweitzer started at the Forest Hills Challenger 2003 but lost to Federico Browne and Ignacio Hirigoyen during their first round. At the Atlantic City Challenger 2003, they lost to Bjorn Rehnquist and Marcus Sarstrand. In 2004, he and Greg competed against Jürgen Melzer and Karsten Braasch at the ATP Siebel Open in 2004.

In 2003, Cicma debuted as a solo player at the 2003 Forest Hills Challenger. He however lost to to James Caiati. In the same year, he joined the Atlantic City Challenger where he lost to Nestor Bernabe during the first round. His best singles win in his career was when he defeated Bud Schultz, a former top 40-ranked player, in the opening round at the 2003 Weymouth Invitational Money Championship. However, he lost to Kyle Spencer, a Great Britain Olympian, in the following round.

In 2006, Cicma clinched the Robert Freeman Memorial USTA Red Clay Money Championships. Also, he triumphed in the Rhode Island State Closed Men’s Championship. The following year, he lost to Jim Thomas at Campbell’s Hall of Fame Tennis Championships. He had his last professional event in July 2008 when he competed at the Hall of Fame Tennis Championships at the age of 28. At the time, he lost 6–0, 6–0 to Michael McClune during the qualifying rounds.

In 2016, he rejoined Professional Tennis and competed alongside Evan King. They played together in the Main Draw of the ITF ATP Puerto Rico Open Futures in Mayaguez. They won the opening rounds 6–3, 6–1, but lost to Thai-Son Kwiatkowski and Quinton Vega 7–5, 6–4 en route to the Quarterfinals.
