Kotb serves at NBC News as a co-host of the NBC News morning show Today and a co-anchor of the show’s entertainment-focused fourth hour. Kotb previously worked as a correspondent for Dateline NBC, a television news magazine program.
After college, Kotb’s first on-air job was at CBS affiliate WXVT in Greenville, Mississippi. From 1988 to 1989, Kotb worked as a reporter for ABC affiliate WQAD in Moline, Illinois. From 1989 to 1991, she worked as a weekend anchor and reporter for CBS affiliate WINK in Fort Myers, Florida. Kotb worked as an anchor and reporter for CBS affiliate WWL in New Orleans, Louisiana, from 1992 to 1998.
Martina McBride invited Kotb to appear in her music video for “I’m Gonna Love You Through It,” a ballad dedicated to cancer survivors, in 2011. In April 1998, Kotb officially joined NBC News as a correspondent for Dateline NBC and all NBC News platforms.
