Karadsheh serves at CNN as an International Correspondent based in the Istanbul Bureau. Over the years with CNN, she has done extensive reports from countries across North Africa and the Middle East such as Syria and Iraq. From 2005 to 2011, Karadsheh served as a correspondent based in Iraq.
Karadsheh started her journalism career with CNN, where she worked as a reporter and producer and she was based in the network’s Baghdad bureau. She reported on significant news events such as the first democratic elections in Iraq, the execution and trials of Saddam Hussein (former Iraqi President), and the withdrawal of United States forces from Iraq.
She was among the CNN correspondents to provide live coverage on the ground in Iraq in the years 2015 and 2014, where they provided an extensive report on the rise of ISIS and the battle to recapture cities from the terror group. Karadsheh went back to Tripoli and was based there until the year 2014. It was in the year 2014 that the inter-militia fighting spread across the capital and destroyed the main airport. While in Lybia, she reported on stories such as the first post-Gadhafi democratic elections and the capture as well as the trial of Saif al-Islam Gadhafi.
She was the only American television journalist to provide a live-on-scene report on the attack on the United States consulate in Benghazi was unfolding, in September 2012. In October 2013, Karadsheh conducted an exclusive interview with Abu Anas al-Libi’s (former al-Qaeda operative) wife in the family’s home in the Libyan capital. Karadsheh has also provided live coverage from several Gulf Arab states on significant stories such as the historic day in Saudi Arabia in the year 2018; and the Saudi-led blockade in the year 2017 from Doha.
She has covered the refugee crisis in neighboring countries as well as the Syrian war. She has traveled to regime-controlled Syria twice. Karadsheh was among the network’s team coverage which reported on the killing of Jamal Khashoggi (Saudi journalist) at the Saudi mission in Istanbul.
