Her first debut at the station was in September 2015, where she anchored the 11 p.m. newscasts and reported stories as a multimedia journalist for other programs. On February 28, 2020, she began working as a Morning News Anchor and Host. Mitchell broadcast throughout the day and co-anchored “News Edge at 11” on weeknights for the network. Prior to that on the weekends, she spent a few months solo anchoring “Good Day Atlanta.” Mitchell was nominated for Best Anchor” by the Regional Southeast EMMY Chapter during her first year of anchoring in her hometown of Atlanta.
Mitchell covered many big incidents away from the anchor desk, including Hurricane Irma, Super Bowl LIII week, and several days of riots surrounding high-profile, officer-involved shootings in 2016 in Atlanta and Charlotte, North Carolina. The inauguration of Georgia Republican Governor Brian Kemp, who faced a contested race against Democrat Stacey Abrams that attracted national coverage, was also field-anchored by Mitchell.
Mitchell was also no stranger to the red carpet scene in the area, most importantly, speaking at the grand opening of Tyler Perry Studios with some of Hollywood’s biggest actors.
