Maureen Maher Career and Education
Maher went to Loyola University where she attained her Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications in 1991. Maureen serves at CBS as a correspondent for “48 Hours.” She led inquiries into foreign and national adoptions; anchored an in-depth study on the factors behind the Chicago crime spike; and studied and worked to settle cold cases. Maureen started her television career at WLUW-FM Chicago as a morning news anchor (1991-1992). Maher’s reporting on “48 Hours”: The Chicago War was honored with a Salute of Excellence Award by the National Black Journalism Association.
Her article on foreign adoption, “48 Hours”: Missing Children, received the 2010 Edward R. Murrow Award from the Radio, Television & Internet News Association (RTNDA). Maher’s story was part of CBS News’ coverage of the Newtown School shooting that won Alfred I. DuPont-Columbia Silver Baton 2014.
