Throughout her career, she has won 9 regional Emmy Awards and 4 national Murrow Awards. Her dedication to international and domestic adoption concerns earned her an Angels in Adoption award from Congress. Michelle spent many summers as a Korean adoptee assisting with adoptive families and orphanages in Seoul.
She started a television show in Missouri to help foster kids find more permanent homes, and she spoke at the National Press Club to raise awareness about international adoption. In the year 2020, she won a coveted Peabody award for her efforts in a pioneering series about identity and race.
She has covered everything from landslides, hurricanes, earthquakes, tornadoes, blizzards, and ice storms, because she has lived on both coasts, in the South, and the Midwest. Her favorite assignment was covering the Wisconsin Badgers’ two Final 4 championships.
