Woods attended the University of California San Diego where he graduated with a degree in Rhetoric and Communications, with an emphasis on atmospheric science. When it comes to his profession, Woods serves at FOX 5 New York as a weekend meteorologist and “Good Day New York” feature reporter for FOX 5 NY since Woods became the morning meteorologist for “Good Day” in October 2003. Woods has covered many major weather events in the tri-state area, including Nor’Easters, hurricanes, blizzards, and heatwaves. a). Mike Woods Cancer, Surgery
In May 2018, Woods confirmed that he had been diagnosed with prostate cancer. Woods also revealed that his father, grandfather, and uncle before him had had prostate cancer and they passed on after undergoing surgery.
His charitable works include a cause that’s very near to his heart – cancer. Most recently, Woods raised over $10,000 for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society through the program, Team in Training, which is dedicated to training runners, triathletes, walkers, cyclists, and hikers for events to raise money for cancer patients and their loved ones.

In early 2023, Woods found out he had scoliosis (a sideways curve of the spine) since he was a kid, and it was now causing problems with his sciatic nerve. To get better, he decided to take a break for two to three months. Before the operation, he was optimistic and even said he’d be like the “Bionic Man” afterward. On Feb. 22, 2023, he went on Instagram Live to update his followers. At that point, he was one week into recovery at home. The good news is, he got better, and now he’s in good health.
