Woolfolk is a Detroit Catholic Central High School grad. He also graduated from Southern University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana with a B.A. degree in Broadcasting. When it comes to his career, Woolfolk serves at NBC25 as a reporter and anchor. He is the co-anchor of NBC 25 Today News, every morning from Monday to Friday at 5, 6, and 7 a.m. Before joining NBC25, he was in Detroit, Michigan to work for WXYZ-TV as the breaking news reporter and general assignment for 7 Action News.
Woolfolk started his television career in 1987 when he was still a student at college. His first job was at WBRZ-TV in Baton Rouge, holding the position of weekend assignment editor and news producer. In 1989, he acquired more tasks as a sports anchor and reporter, then news reporter, and substitute anchor, before leaving the station.
Later on, he moved to KVBC-TV, a low-powered LX-affiliated television located in Las Vegas, Nevada. There he reported and anchored sports during weekends. From 1989 through 1991, he covered major boxing contests that involved Sugar Ray Leonard, Buster Douglas, Thomas Hearns, Roberto Duran, Evander Holyfield, Mike Tyson, Pernell Whitaker, and others. Also, he covered the NCAA Basketball Championships.
Woolfolk then moved to Jackson, Mississippi in 1991, where he worked as the sports anchor for Mississippi News Tonight from Monday to Friday. Later, as a reporter and anchor, he returned to the news department. He stayed in Jackson after Mississippi News Tonight ended to work for WAPT-TV. There, he co-anchored the morning newscast and eventually the 6 and 10 p.m. newscasts. He won the Mississippi Associated Press Broadcasters Association award for best public affairs program in 1994 for a special he produced on secondary school problems.
In January 1996, Woolfolk went to Columbia, South Carolina. There he assisted in the launch of WACH FOX News at Ten. He was a member of the WACH FOX news team for 14 years, and when he left in March 2010, he was Columbia’s longest-serving nightly news anchor. Woolfolk helped WACH-TV increase its ratings to the point where WACH FOX News at Ten was one of the highest-rated prime-time newscasts in the nation during his time there. Also, WACH FOX News at Ten was recognized by the South Carolina Associated Press Broadcasters Association. This was for being the best newscast in Colombia from 2007 to 2008.
Woolfolk is a National Association of Black Journalists member, in which he is very active. There, he serves as the Regional Director, Vice President – Broadcast, the Salute to Excellence Awards Chairman, and Convention Chairman.
Also, he serves as Council of Presidents Chairman and Elections Chairman. In addition, he has been a speaker and instructor at the NABJ Broadcast Short Course, which is held each year at North Carolina A&T State University. Woolfolk was honored in the NABJ Region III Hall of Fame in 2007 for his outstanding contributions to the organization and approximately 20 years of journalism work in the Southeast.
