O’Donnell serves at CBS News as the anchor and managing editor of the “CBS Evening News,” anchor of CBS News Election Specials, including primary, debate, and election nights, and a 60 Minutes contributing correspondent. Previously, O’Donnell was co-host of “CBS This Morning” and a 60-minute contributor. O’Donnell joined CBS This Morning in July 2012. Prior to that, she worked as a White House Chief Reporter for CBS News.
She is an Emmy award-winning journalist with more than two decades of experience around the world; she has covered six presidential campaigns and traveled across the globe to meet dozens of the world’s leading figures, including five U.S. presidents. Since joining CBS News, O’Donnell has held several interviews with news editors including President Donald Trump, President Barack Obama, Vice President Mike Pence, and Speaker Nancy Pelosi.
She sat with some of the world’s most prominent figures, including South Korean President Moon Jae-in for his first interview in office, His Royal Highness Prince Harry of Wales, Nobel Peace Prize laureate Malala Yousafzai, and the Dalai Lama. In March 2018, O’Donnell spent a week in Saudi Arabia, interviewing Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

She covered Pope Francis’ landmark election in Vatican City as well as his first Apostolic Trip to the United States.
