Curnow first graduated from St Mary’s School for Girls, Waverley in South Africa, and then attended the University of KwaZulu in Natal in 1992. In the year 1994, she graduated from the university with a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Government.

She enrolled at the University of the Witwatersrand in 1998, and in the following year, she graduated with honors, with a bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Government. Curnow has worked for CNN as a correspondent based in Johannesburg, Africa.
