Abrams attended the University of Florida in Gainesville and is a graduate of Space Camp. There, she obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree in Geography and a Minor in Mathematics. Aside from this, she graduated with honors and was selected to Phi Beta Kappa. There, she was a member of Delta Phi Epsilon sorority. While there, she also served as the president of the chapter.
After this, she went on to join Florida State University (FSU) in Tallahassee. There, she obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree in Meteorology and graduated summa cum laude. During his time at Florida State, she like many other meteorology students, practiced on-air forecasts on FSU live. This is a student-run news and weather production on a Tallahassee cable channel.

Abrams works for The Weather Channel(TWC) in New York & Atlanta serving the station as a Co-Host for AMHQ. Aside from this, she works for NBC News and on NBC Nightly News, MSNBC, and Today. She began her career working for WTXL News, an ABC affiliate station located in Tallahassee, Florida serving the station as a Morning meteorologist.
Back in the month of July 2003, she joined TWC where she began her on-air work serving as a reporter and fill-in Meteorologist. She served as a Fill-In Weather Anchor/Reporter until the year 2005 when she joined Weekend View as a co-host for the show. Back in the year 2006, she went on to become an on-camera meteorologist serving as a co-host of Abrams and Bettes: Beyond the Forecast. After this, she went on to join the Weather Center as a co-host alongside Mike Bettes.
From the 20th of July year 2009, she went on to co-anchor Wake Up with Al with Al Roker. This was every weekday morning from the NBC Studios located in New York. Aside from this, she occasionally filled in for Roker on Today and joined Sam Champion on America’s Morning Headquarters(AMHQ). In the 2010 Winter Olympics, she and Roker were reporting live from Vancouver from the 8th to the 28th of February for Wake Up With AI and AMHQ. Later on, in the year 2015, Wake Up With Al was canceled. She went on to return to work from the Weather Channel’s studios in Atlanta.
