Roesgen attended Loyola University in New Orleans to earn a Master’s degree in counseling. When it comes to her career, she serves as a part-time reporter, as well as a part-time anchor of ABC26 News. Also, she co-hosts the 5, 6, & 10 pm programs. She is a proud alumnus of  Montana State University, where she majored in English Literature. She graduated from the university in 1983. Her first work on-air was creating advertisements, and she started as a copyeditor for the Montana State University Exponent newspaper.

She later joined the news department at WABC-TV, the flagship station of the ABC television network in New York City, where she worked her way up to anchor the news. Roesgen is an international and national reporter/anchor who has served with the United States Army in Haiti, sailed on the Sea of Galilee in Israel, and bartered for a camel in Cairo.

In 2001, Susan joined a cultural affairs and TV news program broadcast internationally from National Geographic headquarters in Washington, D.C., “National Geographic Today,” where she served as the co-host. This was after several years on local television.  She covered everything from the raising of a Civil War submarine in Charleston to in-depth interviews with world-renowned conservationist, Jane Goodall, and Titanic discoverer,  Bob Ballard, then to a multi-part series in Egypt with Egyptian archaeologist Zahi Hawass.

In 2002, she made a return to New Orleans and began working for WWNO, a public radio station. She then started freelancing as a reporter for NPR’s programs, including “Morning Edition” and “All Things Considered,” among others. She began anchoring, as well as reporting part-time for WGNO-TV in 2003. Roesgen was hired as the inaugural Correspondent for CNN’s Gulf Coast Bureau, which started in New Orleans in 2005, after her work as a reporter for WGNO and NPR during Hurricane Katrina.

She became a CNN Correspondent located in Chicago in 2007 after covering the Gulf recovery effort for two years. At CNN, she covered various stories like Rod Blagojevich’s (Illinois Governor) impeachment, Michael Jackson’s death, floods, hurricanes, snowstorms, and tornadoes. Also, she reported on the raid on a polygamist sect in Texas. The stories were live on “The Situation Room with Wolf Blitzer,” “Anderson Cooper 360,” and all other programs on CNN.
